Warning signs

Is this happening in your home?

Most families who ring the nasha mukti kendra in Shimla families trust begin the same way. Something has been wrong for months and the explanations have stopped adding up. These are the signs they describe most often, and chitta and sharab sit at the top of the list.

  • Money or jewellery quietly going missing from the house
  • Foil, lighters, burnt spoons or syringes hidden in his room
  • Drinking from the morning, or bottles tucked behind the water tank
  • Sudden weight loss, sleeping all day, awake the whole night
  • Pinpoint pupils, a running nose and yawning that never stops
  • New friends, long absences and a phone he never puts down
  • Shaking, sweating or vomiting when he cannot get hold of it
  • Tablets, capsules or cough syrup bought again and again
  • Anger, lies and promises to quit that last three days
  • A job, a shop or a college seat that has quietly been lost

None of this makes him a bad son, a bad husband or a bad father. Addiction is an illness that changes the brain, and it responds to treatment rather than to shouting.

If you suspect chitta, read ghar mein koi chitta le raha hai before you confront him. Then ring the nasha mukti kendra in Shimla families trust. You do not need the right words: tell us what you are seeing.

What we treat

What our nasha mukti kendra in Shimla treats

Chitta and sharab are what Shimla families ask about most, so our nasha mukti kendra in Shimla gives them the most space here. Almost nobody arrives using only one thing, so our nasha mukti kendra in Shimla district assesses the whole picture at admission and builds one plan around it.

Chitta, heroin, smack and brown sugar

Chitta is the most urgent thing we treat and the main reason Shimla families ring a nasha mukti kendra at all. It grips within weeks, it is smoked on foil or injected, and withdrawal is severe enough that almost nobody manages chitta de-addiction alone. Nasha chudane ka ilaj has to start somewhere medical.

Chitta ka ilaj at our nasha mukti kendra in Shimla district begins with medically supervised detox, then psychiatric assessment, counselling, group therapy, the 12 step programme and a written relapse prevention plan. Smack and brown sugar follow the same protocol.

Ask about chitta treatment in Shimla

Sharab, daru and sharab ki lat

Alcohol is the quieter epidemic, treated as normal until a liver, a marriage or a job gives way. Sharab chudane ka ilaj is genuinely medical: after years of heavy drinking, stopping suddenly can bring on tremors, seizures and delirium tremens.

So alcohol de-addiction in Shimla starts with supervised detox and round the clock nursing, and only then moves to CBT, the 12 step programme, family work and a life that does not revolve around a bottle. More in our guide to alcohol addiction recovery.

Ask about alcohol rehab in Shimla

Charas, ganja and bhang

Cannabis grows in these hills, so families across the upper Shimla belt brush it off. Our nasha mukti kendra in Shimla district sees the other side: young men from Kotkhai, Jubbal and Rohru whose studies and motivation collapsed, and for whom charas opened the door to chitta. Charas ganja treatment works through CBT, routine and fitness.

Opium, afeem, doda and bhukki

These are opioids too, and Shimla district police keep recovering them, including a large opium haul near Kumarsain. Dependence is physical and the taper must be medically managed at a nasha mukti kendra in Shimla district or a hospital, never at home. Poppy husk, or chura post, belongs in the same group.

Goliyon ka nasha: tramadol, codeine syrup, alprazolam

Goliyon ka nasha hides in plain sight because the strips and bottles come from a chemist, so families notice only when it is severe. Our nasha mukti kendra in Shimla district tapers under psychiatric supervision, because stopping a benzodiazepine such as alprazolam abruptly can be life threatening.

Injecting, mixed use, cocaine and MDMA

Injecting carries the highest risks of all: overdose, abscesses, hepatitis and HIV. Mixing sharab with chitta makes withdrawal unpredictable and home management impossible. Cocaine, MDMA and LSD reach Shimla through tourism. Synthetic opioids such as fentanyl are not a significant problem in Himachal at present, and we say so plainly.

Is withdrawal dangerous at home?

With alcohol and with benzodiazepine tablets, yes, it genuinely can be. Seizures and delirium tremens are medical emergencies, and they are why locking a man in a room at home fails or turns dangerous. Chitta withdrawal is rarely fatal, but it is brutal enough that most men break within two days.

That is the whole argument for a registered de-addiction centre in Shimla district rather than a home attempt: medication, monitoring of vitals, 24x7 nursing and a doctor who can act.

Choosing a centre

What makes the best nasha mukti kendra in Shimla for de-addiction?

Every centre calls itself the best. Before you choose any nasha mukti kendra in Shimla, ask for these six things. They are the standard we hold ourselves to, and each can be checked before you pay a rupee.

Registered, with papers you can see

We hold Provisional Registration Sr. No. 193 from the HP State Mental Health Authority in Shimla. Ask any centre for its certificate. One that hesitates has told you something important.

Medical detox, not a locked room

Withdrawal is managed with the right medication, monitoring of vitals and nursing round the clock. A locked gate and a watchman is confinement, not treatment, and with sharab or tablets it can kill.

180 days, not 15

Fifteen and thirty day stays rarely hold against chitta. Six months gives the body time to repair and the mind time to build new habits before he goes home to the same street.

Family inside the treatment

Parents, wives and brothers learn how addiction works and how to support recovery without funding the next relapse. Recovery holds far better when the home changes too.

Fees written down before admission

Our tariff is published in full on this page. Anything outside it, such as an outside hospital referral or transport, is discussed with the family before it is spent.

Run by someone who has been there

Our founder, Eshan Pathania, is five years in recovery himself. He knows what your son is going through from the inside, and what it actually takes to come out the other side.

Why families call us the top rehabilitation centre in Shimla district

Not because we say so. Because the registration number is printed here and can be inspected at the centre, because detox is run by a psychiatrist rather than a watchman, and because a charitable trust has no shareholder waiting for a margin. Hold the top rehabilitation centre in Shimla you are considering to those tests, and the best rehab centre in Shimla will be the one that passes them. We would like you to judge our nasha mukti kendra in Shimla district the same way.

Searching for the best nasha mukti kendra near me in Shimla?

Most families find the nasha mukti kendra in Shimla families use at two in the morning, typing rehab near me, nasha mukti kendra near me, de-addiction centre near me, best nasha mukti kendra near me or best rehab centre near me into a phone after another bad night. Here is what that search should lead to.

The local situation

Chitta, sharab and drugs: what Shimla is facing

Shimla is the state capital, a student city and a tourist city, and it sits on the road in from Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh. That has made it the worst affected district in Himachal for chitta. Every figure below is linked to its source.

51% of NDPS cases involved chitta

Statewide, NDPS cases rose from 463 in the first quarter of 2024 to 597 in the same months of 2025, an increase of about 29 per cent.

Rs 6.38 crof drug linked assets frozen by Shimla police in 2026, against nothing in 2024 and 2025
234panchayats across Himachal marked red zone for chitta

Police figures and the trend

In the first three months of 2025, Himachal Pradesh registered 597 cases under the NDPS Act, up from 463 in the same period of 2024. Of those, 305 involved chitta, and Shimla district reported the highest number of chitta cases in the state at 51, ahead of Mandi, Kangra and Bilaspur. Police said most of it is trafficked in small quantities from Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir.

The pressure has not eased. By August 2026, Shimla police had seized more than 4 kg of heroin in the district during the year, close to four times the total of the previous two years combined, including a single recovery of 1.120 kg described as the largest heroin seizure in Himachal that year.

Chitta arrests and the supply routes into Shimla

The arrests map the roads. A Punjab man was caught with 30 grams of chitta at the Shoghi barrier, stopped on an HRTC bus heading into Shimla. Three peddlers from Nankhari were held with 41.81 grams of heroin at ISBT Tutikandi, the city's own bus terminus.

Cases registered on a single January day at Dhalli and Kumarsain police stations brought in 57.34 grams of heroin and nine arrests. In June 2026, three young men from Nankhari tehsil were picked up in Dhalli with heroin, a weighing machine and a syringe. A syringe in that list is the detail families should not skip past.

Theog, Kotkhai, Jubbal and the apple belt

The upper Shimla orchard belt is not spared. Over one six month stretch the Theog subdivision alone recorded 20 NDPS cases and 52 arrests, with 502 grams of chitta, 2.8 kg of cannabis and 2.4 kg of opium seized, the heroin split across Theog, Kotkhai and Deha. Police described young men as the main consumers.

Later arrests followed the same lines: three men from Kotkhai, Jubbal and Chopal tehsils held in one Kotkhai case, and four people including a seventeen year old caught with chitta in Rohru and Theog. When a schoolboy is in the FIR, the problem has reached the village, not just the city.

Rampur, Chopal, Nerwa, Chirgaon and the outer tehsils

In one September 2026 sweep Shimla police recovered 53.77 grams of chitta and arrested ten people across Theog, Shoghi, Chopal, Nerwa, Kumarsain, Chirgaon and Rohru. Earlier that year Kumarsain police unearthed an opium network with about 11.5 kg of opium, and New Shimla police broke an interstate LSD ring, recovering 562 stamps.

Overdose and chitta deaths

These are the cases nobody files an FIR about in time. The Tribune reported thirteen suspected drug overdose deaths across Himachal in a seventy two day stretch between January and mid March, four of them in Shimla district, among them a twenty one year old found dead in a restaurant washroom in Sanjauli.

In April 2026, ETV Bharat put the three year toll at 66 drug overdose deaths in Himachal Pradesh, and described a young man in Sanjauli selling his mother's jewellery for a fraction of its worth to buy chitta. Families reading this page will recognise that story. We will not name anyone, and neither should anybody else.

Sharab, lahan and illicit liquor

Chitta gets the headlines, but alcohol is still the most common addiction we treat, and in Shimla it is woven into work, weather and weddings. Enforcement figures show the scale of the unlicensed trade alone: across the state, about 54,945 litres of illicit liquor and lahan were seized in roughly seven months and 523 cases registered, with 309.34 litres of illicit liquor taken in the Shimla southern region in October alone.

Earlier in the same financial year the department reported 542.93 bulk litres seized in the Shimla region in July. None of that counts the legal bottle from the vend, which is where most sharab ki lat in Shimla actually begins. Nationally, the AIIMS-NDDTC survey Magnitude of Substance Use in India found only about one person in thirty eight with alcohol dependence reports getting any treatment.

What the government and police are doing

Himachal has moved harder than most states. The Anti Chitta campaign was launched from the Ridge in Shimla on 15 November 2025 and has since become a statewide drive, with more than 2.34 lakh people reported as taking part. The state became the first in the country to map drug abuse down to panchayat level and sort panchayats into red, yellow and green zones, with 234 in the red category.

In June 2026 the Chief Minister inaugurated Nav Jeevan, the state's first government run women's de-addiction and rehabilitation centre, at Mashobra near Shimla. Shimla police, meanwhile, have shifted to the money: by late 2026 they had frozen or seized about Rs 6.38 crore of assets bought with drug proceeds, after no comparable action in 2024 or 2025.

Enforcement matters. It is also not treatment. If a son or a husband in your house is behind those numbers, arrest figures will not help him, and the district administration cannot sit at your kitchen table. That is the gap a nasha mukti kendra in Shimla is supposed to fill.

Figures as reported by The Tribune, UNI, PTI, ETV Bharat, Asianet Newsable and Himachal government statements, linked in the text above. Shown for public awareness, not as a claim about our own results.

Registration

Is your rehab centre in Shimla registered? How to check

This is the most useful thing on this page and it costs five minutes. Before you trust any rehab centre in Shimla, or any centre calling itself the best rehab centre in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, the law gives you a test you can apply yourself.

The law, in plain words

Under Section 65 of the Mental Healthcare Act 2017, no mental health establishment may run without registration with the State Mental Health Authority. Every de-addiction centre in Shimla and everywhere else is one, including ours. There is no exemption for a charitable trust.

What provisional registration means

Section 66 allows a provisional registration, valid for twelve months and renewable, while the authority inspects and the establishment works towards permanent registration. It is a real legal status, not a certificate bought online. Ours is Sr. No. 193, issued on 14 May 2026.

Why "government approved" often means nothing

Plenty of centres across Himachal and Punjab call themselves government approved on the strength of a trust deed, a society registration or a GST number. None of those is permission to treat anybody. Ask specifically for the State Mental Health Authority registration.

Why the rule exists

When Himachal made registration compulsory, officials said openly that some private centres were not following WHO treatment protocol and were treating patients inhumanely. Deputy commissioners were told to map every centre in their district.

How a Shimla family can check in five minutes

Ask for the registration number and the date. Ask which authority issued it. Ask to see the certificate and check that the address on it is where your son will actually sleep. Then ask who the psychiatrist is and when he visits. Four questions, five minutes, and they will separate a real de-addiction centre in Shimla district from a room with a lock.

The 180-day programme at our nasha mukti kendra in Shimla families trust

Every man admitted to the nasha mukti kendra in Shimla families choose follows the same eight stages. The pace changes, the structure does not. 12 step programme and group therapy

Yoga, meditation and fitness

Family counselling

Parents, wives and siblings learn how addiction works and how to support recovery without quietly funding the next relapse.

Relapse prevention

Before discharge every man writes his own plan: his triggers, his warning signs, the people he will call, and the shape of his first month back home in Shimla.

Aftercare and follow-up

Triggers, aftercare, follow up

Residential admission is the core of what our nasha mukti kendra in Shimla does. Drug de-addiction and alcohol work run side by side here. For families continuing care after discharge, and for men who cannot leave work or study, we also run outpatient reviews, counselling and follow up from the same centre.

Admission

Admission for Shimla families: the first day, visits and calls

Nobody has done this before. Here is exactly what happens at the best rehabilitation centre in Shimla families can reach, in the order it happens, so you can picture it before you pick up the phone.

When he refuses to come

Refusal is a symptom of the illness, not proof that treatment will fail. Our counsellors will coach you through the conversation, help you set boundaries and stop the patterns that keep the nasha funded. The Mental Healthcare Act 2017 also allows supported admission in defined circumstances, and we explain that honestly rather than use it as a sales line.

What to bring

His Aadhaar or any government photo identity, your own photo identity, old prescriptions or discharge summaries, and two or three sets of simple clothes. Tell us at assessment about seizures, liver disease, diabetes, tuberculosis, hepatitis or psychiatric medication, because each changes how detox is managed.

The first day at our nasha mukti kendra in Shimla district

He is assessed by the doctor, his belongings are listed, and detox begins the same day if needed. The first week is the hardest and the most closely watched: vitals checked, sleep and food tracked, medication adjusted. He will be uncomfortable. He will not be alone, and he will not be hurt.

Visits and phone calls

Both are part of the treatment plan rather than a favour, and usually begin after the first stabilisation period, because contact during acute withdrawal sets recovery back. Once he is stable, scheduled calls and family visits are encouraged, and the counsellor will tell you how to use them well.

Food and daily care

Simple, fresh vegetarian food from the kitchen of our nasha mukti kendra in Shimla district, on a fixed timetable, because years of chitta or sharab leave the body depleted. B Caring and A Caring residents get an upgraded diet. Any medical dietary need is managed on the doctor's instruction.

After he leaves the best nasha mukti kendra in Shimla, and if he slips

Every man leaves with a written relapse prevention plan and a follow up schedule. If he slips, call the de-addiction centre in Shimla families use that same week rather than waiting. A lapse handled early is a chapter. A lapse hidden for three months is usually a readmission.

Fees

Nasha mukti kendra in Shimla: fees, stated plainly

Families comparing the best nasha mukti kendra in Shimla almost always start with cost, so we publish ours in full. The treatment does not change with the room: the same doctors, the same therapy, the same nursing. What changes is where he sleeps and what he eats.

Government options

Government options for Shimla families, honestly compared

We are not the only route, and for some families we are not the right one. Here is what the state actually offers in and around Shimla, as reported by the government itself, so you can weigh it against the nasha mukti kendra in Shimla district we run.

IGMC Shimla, psychiatry

Indira Gandhi Medical College in Shimla has long been where medical treatment for addiction happens in the city, and the Chief Minister has acknowledged that the gap was in rehabilitation afterwards. The state has also said drug patients at IGMC are to be kept separately from other psychiatric patients. For acute medical help in the city, go here first.

Nav Jeevan, Mashobra, for women

Himachal's first government run women's centre, inaugurated at Mashobra near Shimla in June 2026, offers medical treatment, counselling, rehabilitation and vocational support for women. We are male only, so if the person you are worried about is a woman, ring them and not us.

State run centres for men

The Health Minister told a Shimla workshop in August 2026 that four government de-addiction centres for men were running, in Kullu, Una, Hamirpur and Kangra, with the Red Cross in Kullu running one for women and a 100 bed facility coming at Kotla Barog, Sirmaur.

A government centre or a de-addiction centre in Shimla district?

Government and Red Cross centres charge little or nothing, and for many families that settles it. The usual trade offs are waiting lists, higher patient to staff ratios and shorter stays. A free fifteen day admission that ends in relapse is not cheaper than a paid stay that holds.

Helplines that cost nothing

The national de-addiction helpline is 14446 and Tele MANAS is 14416. Both are free and answer round the clock. The Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan site lists further resources district by district.

Where a charitable trust sits

We sit between the free government route and the expensive private rehabs: a registered nasha mukti kendra in Himachal Pradesh run by a charitable trust, with published fees and a 180 day programme. Ring the government number first if you want to, then ring the top nasha mukti kendra you can find and compare honestly.

Men who walked out of here with their lives back

Shared with permission by men who completed the programme at our nasha mukti kendra in Shimla district. If you are reading this from Shimla and wondering whether anybody really comes back from chitta or years of sharab, read these three first.

I had given up on myself long before I reached this nasha mukti kendra. Nobody shouted at me and nobody locked me in a room. They treated me like a man worth saving, and after 180 days I walked out with my life back in my own hands.

What happens in this rehab is real medical care, not punishment, and that is the whole difference. The counselling made me look at things I had been running from for years. I left with a plan, and I still follow it every single morning.

Families ring us from every corner of Shimla district: from Sanjauli and Dhalli in the city, from the orchard villages above Kotkhai and Jubbal, from Rampur Bushahr on the Sutlej, and from Chopal and Nerwa on the far side of the district. Chitta and sharab are the two reasons behind almost every one of those calls.

Admission is residential, which is the part that matters. He lives at the best rehabilitation centre in Shimla families can find, for the length of the programme, away from the phone numbers, the theka and the friends that keep the habit running. Calls and visits are scheduled with the counsellors, and family counselling runs alongside so the home changes while he does.

Shimla is also a small world, and that is exactly why so many families here choose a residential de-addiction centre in Shimla district over an outpatient arrangement. A government employee, a shopkeeper, a teacher or a student can complete treatment without the whole mohalla discussing it by evening. Everything is confidential, by law and by habit.

Questions families ask

Questions about our nasha mukti kendra in Shimla

Chitta, sharab, charas, goliyan, fees, admission, confidentiality and what happens afterwards. If your question about the top rehabilitation centre in Shimla families should choose is not here, ring the helpline. Every conversation is private and there is no obligation.

Choosing a nasha mukti kendra in Shimla

Which is the best nasha mukti kendra in Shimla for chitta and sharab?

The best nasha mukti kendra in Shimla is the one registered with the State Mental Health Authority, detoxing under medical supervision, keeping a man long enough to recover, involving the family and writing its fees down. We meet all five: Provisional Registration Sr. No. 193, a 180 day programme, a consultant psychiatrist, a psychologist, MSW counsellors and 24x7 nursing.

Where is your nasha mukti kendra and what is the address?

Eshan Charitable Trust, De-Addiction and Rehabilitation Centre, Near FCI Godown, Village Tanda Kholi, Ward No. 7, PO Kholi, Tehsil and District Kangra, Himachal Pradesh 176001. That is the address printed on our registration, and it is where your son will stay for the programme. Ring the helpline and a counsellor will plan the admission with you.

How soon can you admit someone from Shimla?

Usually the same day or the next. Our helpline is answered round the clock and the nasha mukti kendra in Shimla families use admits any day of the week, including Sundays and festival days. Ring first so a counsellor can take the history, tell you what to bring and have the medical team ready before you arrive.

How do I find a good de-addiction centre in Shimla or nearby?

Four filters, and ignore the rest. Is it registered under the Mental Healthcare Act 2017. Is there a qualified psychiatrist and real nursing cover. Is detox medically supervised. Is the full fee written down before admission. A de-addiction centre in Shimla that answers yes to all four and lets you inspect the place is worth your time.

What is the difference between a nasha mukti kendra and a rehabilitation centre in Shimla?

In everyday speech they mean the same thing, and we are both. The difference is what is delivered. A basic nasha mukti kendra may offer a bed and a locked gate. A proper rehabilitation centre in Shimla district gives medical detox, psychiatric assessment, therapy, the 12 step programme, family counselling and a written relapse prevention plan.

Which is the best rehab center near me in Shimla?

If you searched rehab near me, rehab centre near me or nasha mukti kendra near me from Shimla, ring two or three and ask the same four questions about registration, psychiatrist, detox and fees. Nearest is not the same as best. What makes a residential nasha mukti kendra in Shimla work is distance from the old friends and old suppliers, not proximity to your gate.

Is your rehab centre in Shimla district registered with the government?

Yes. Provisional Registration Sr. No. 193, issued by the HP State Mental Health Authority, Shimla, under Sections 66(4) and 66(11) of the Mental Healthcare Act 2017, dated 14 May 2026. The rehab centre in Shimla district families choose is run by Eshan Charitable Trust, Regd. No. 2025/19/IV/123, Kashmere Gate, Delhi. Both can be inspected at the centre.

Chitta treatment in Shimla

What is chitta ka ilaj, and how does chitta treatment in Shimla actually work?

Chitta is adulterated heroin, and Shimla has the highest number of chitta cases of any district in Himachal. Chitta ka ilaj at our nasha mukti kendra in Shimla district starts with medically supervised detox, then psychiatric evaluation, counselling, group therapy, the 12 step programme and a relapse prevention plan. No injection cures it in a week.

How long do chitta withdrawal symptoms last?

Acute withdrawal usually peaks in the first 48 to 96 hours and settles over one to two weeks. Body pain, cramps, vomiting, sweating and severe insomnia are common. Low mood and cravings continue for months, which is why a two week stay at any nasha mukti kendra in Shimla so rarely holds.

How long does chitta treatment take at your centre?

We recommend 180 days. The first weeks stabilise the body, the middle phase does the psychological work, the last phase is relapse prevention and preparing the family. A shorter stay is possible since fees are monthly. We will say honestly what one or two months achieves, which is detox and a start, not a rebuilt life.

My son has relapsed after chitta treatment before. Is there any point trying again?

Yes. Relapse is common and not proof that he is beyond help. Most men who complete our programme tried another centre first. What the best nasha mukti kendra in Shimla families can find does differently is ask why the last attempt failed: too short a stay, untreated depression, no family work, no plan for the first month home.

What is the overdose risk with chitta, and what should a family do?

It is real and rising. Overdose deaths have been reported across Shimla district, and the risk is highest after a gap in use, when tolerance has fallen but the old dose is taken. Slow or stopped breathing, blue lips, unresponsiveness: treat each as an emergency and get him to hospital at once, telling doctors exactly what he took.

Do you treat smack, brown sugar and injecting chitta?

Yes. Smack, brown sugar, chitta and heroin are all opioids and our nasha mukti kendra in Shimla district treats them on one protocol. Injecting carries the highest risks, including overdose, hepatitis B and C and HIV, so we add screening and referral for infections. Tell us at assessment if there has been needle sharing.

Sharab and alcohol rehab in Shimla

Do you provide sharab chudane ka ilaj and alcohol rehab in Shimla?

Yes, and alcohol is the most common addiction we treat. Alcohol de-addiction in Shimla starts with medically supervised detox, then CBT, the 12 step programme, family counselling, yoga and a plan for a life that does not revolve around drinking. No injection cures sharab ki lat, and any centre promising that is not being straight with you.

Is it dangerous to stop drinking alcohol suddenly at home?

It can be, genuinely. After years of heavy drinking, sudden withdrawal can cause tremors, seizures, hallucinations and delirium tremens, a medical emergency. That is why cold turkey at home fails or turns dangerous. At our nasha mukti kendra in Shimla district, detox runs on medication, monitoring of vitals and 24x7 nursing under a consultant psychiatrist.

My husband drinks every day but still goes to work. Does he need a de-addiction centre?

Holding down a job is not evidence that drinking is under control. The pattern is daily drinking starting earlier each year, a temper arriving with it, money not reaching the house, and a body quietly taking damage. Ring the de-addiction centre in Shimla families use and describe the week as it is. We will say honestly what he needs.

My father has been drinking for thirty years. Is he too old for a nasha mukti kendra?

No. We admit men 18 and above with no upper age limit. A longer history means more physical damage, so detox is handled more carefully where there is liver disease, diabetes or seizures. Older residents often do well at our nasha mukti kendra in Shimla district, because by that age a man is usually tired of it.

Other substances treated at our nasha mukti kendra in Shimla district

Do you treat charas, ganja and bhang addiction?

Yes. Cannabis grows in these hills and is cheap, so families dismiss it. We see young men from the orchard belt whose studies and motivation collapsed, and for whom charas was the step before chitta. Bhang is a cannabis preparation too. Charas ganja treatment breaks the dependency through CBT, routine and fitness.

Do you treat goliyon ka nasha, tramadol, codeine syrup and alprazolam?

Yes. Goliyon ka nasha hides in plain sight because the strips come from a chemist. The nasha mukti kendra in Shimla families send men to provides structured tapering and medically supervised detox for opioid and benzodiazepine dependence with psychiatric oversight. Stopping alprazolam abruptly can be life threatening, so this needs a registered medical facility.

Do you treat opium, afeem, doda and bhukki?

Yes. Opium, afeem, doda post, bhukki and poppy husk are opioids, and Shimla district police have recovered substantial quantities, including a large seizure near Kumarsain. Dependence is physical and the taper must be medically managed. These are treated in the same opioid programme as chitta, inside the same residential stay.

Do you treat depression, anxiety and other mental health problems alongside addiction?

Almost always, yes. Depression, anxiety, trauma, sleep disorders, bipolar illness, OCD and sometimes psychosis sit under or alongside substance use, and treating one without the other is why rehab attempts fail. As a registered mental health establishment, our de-addiction centre in Shimla district treats these as part of the programme, not a paid extra.

Travel, admission and life at our nasha mukti kendra in Shimla district

Do you take men from Theog, Rohru, Rampur, Chopal and Kumarsain?

Yes, and from across the district: Shimla city, Sanjauli, Dhalli, Totu, New Shimla, Mashobra, Kufri, Shoghi, Junga, Dhami, Sunni, Narkanda, Matiana, Deha, Kotgarh, Kumarsain, Theog, Kotkhai, Jubbal, Saraswati Nagar, Kharapathar, Rohru, Chirgaon, Hatkoti, Tikkar, Dodra Kwar, Nankhari, Rampur Bushahr, Jhakri, Sarahan, Taklech, Chopal, Nerwa and Kupvi. Ring the nasha mukti kendra in Shimla families trust from wherever you are.

What happens when we call the helpline from Shimla?

A counsellor answers, not a receptionist. They will ask what he is using, how long it has gone on, what his health is like and what has already been tried. Nothing is judged and nothing is shared. By the end of the call you will have an honest view of whether our nasha mukti kendra in Shimla district suits your family, and what admission would involve.

Is treatment residential, or can he come daily from Shimla?

The core programme is residential: he lives at the centre for the length of the stay, which is what makes it work against chitta and sharab. We also run outpatient reviews, counselling and follow up for Shimla families continuing care after discharge, and for men who genuinely cannot leave work or study. A counsellor will tell you which one fits.

Why is residential treatment better than trying to stop at home in Shimla?

Because at home nothing else changes. The dealer's number is still in his phone, the theka is still on the walk back, and the friends he used with are still calling. A residential nasha mukti kendra in Shimla district breaks that daily circuit and puts medical detox, therapy and routine in its place. Home attempts usually end in the second week.

Is there a government nasha mukti kendra in Shimla?

Medical treatment in the city runs through IGMC Shimla, and in June 2026 the state opened Nav Jeevan at Mashobra, its first government run centre for women. Four government centres for men run in Kullu, Una, Hamirpur and Kangra, with a 100 bed facility planned at Kotla Barog, Sirmaur. The free helplines are 14446 and 14416.

Can the family visit, and can he phone home?

Yes to both. Visits and calls are planned as part of treatment, not granted as a favour, and usually begin after the first stabilisation period, because contact during acute withdrawal sets recovery back. Family counselling runs alongside. From Shimla a visit means a planned trip, so we fix dates well in advance.

What are the fees, and can we do a shorter stay?

Shared Residential Care is Rs 12,500 a month, B Caring deluxe twin sharing Rs 25,000 and A Caring private room Rs 40,000, plus a one time detox charge of Rs 6,000 at admission. Treatment is identical in all three; only the room and diet change. Fees at the nasha mukti kendra in Shimla families choose are monthly, so a shorter stay costs less.

What is included in the monthly fee?

Accommodation, all meals, prescribed medication, doctor and psychiatrist reviews, individual counselling, group therapy, the 12 step programme, yoga, fitness, every activity at the centre and family counselling. Anything outside, such as a hospital referral or transport, is discussed before it is spent. As a charitable trust we add no hidden charges.

What if he refuses to come for treatment?

Refusal is the most common thing families describe, and it is a symptom of the illness rather than proof treatment will fail. Counsellors at our nasha mukti kendra in Shimla district will coach you through the conversation and help you stop the patterns that keep the nasha funded. The Mental Healthcare Act 2017 also allows supported admission in defined circumstances.

Is admission confidential?

Completely. Confidentiality is an ethical duty and a legal obligation for a registered mental health establishment under the Mental Healthcare Act 2017. We share nothing with employers or neighbours. Government employees, teachers and students from Shimla have completed treatment at our nasha mukti kendra in Shimla district without anyone in their circle knowing.

What documents do we need for admission?

His Aadhaar or any government photo identity, your own photo identity, and any previous prescriptions, discharge summaries or medical reports. Bring two or three sets of simple clothes. Tell us at assessment about seizures, liver disease, diabetes, tuberculosis, hepatitis or psychiatric medication, because each changes how detox is managed.

What happens after discharge, back in Shimla?

Discharge is not goodbye. Every man leaves the nasha mukti kendra in Shimla families trust with a written relapse prevention plan covering his triggers, his warning signs and the people he will call. Aftercare includes scheduled follow up calls through the first fragile months at home. Our helpline stays open to former residents indefinitely.
