Is this happening in your home?

Most calls that reach us from families searching for a nasha mukti kendra in Chamba begin quietly. A mother in Sultanpur, a wife in Banikhet, a brother in Tissa. Something has been wrong for months, and nobody at home wants to say the word chitta or sharab out loud. These are the signs families describe to us first.

  • Foil, burnt notes, lighters or syringes hidden in his room: the usual signs of chitta
  • Drinking from the morning, bottles hidden in the cowshed, the car or the fields
  • Money, jewellery or even household things going missing
  • Sudden weight loss, sleeping all day, awake all night
  • Shaking, sweating, vomiting or body pain when he cannot use
  • New friends, sudden trips down to Banikhet or Pathankot, a phone he never lets go of
  • Anger, lies and promises to quit that never last beyond a week
  • Tablets or cough syrup bought again and again: goliyon ka nasha

None of this makes him a bad son or husband. Addiction is an illness that changes the brain, and like any illness it responds to proper treatment. If you have just found foil or a syringe and do not know what to do tonight, read our guide ghar mein koi chitta le raha hai, then call us. You do not need the right words. Tell us what you are seeing and a counsellor will take it from there, exactly as a good nasha mukti kendra in Chamba or anywhere else should.

Family counselling session for parents who searched for a nasha mukti kendra in Chamba

What our rehab centre for Chamba families treats

Most men who come to us from Chamba use more than one thing: chitta with sharab, or charas with tablets. Any drug rehabilitation centre in Chamba, and any nasha mukti kendra in Chamba's region, should assess everything at admission and build one plan around the whole picture. That is how we work, and it is why chitta and sharab get the most space below.

Chitta, heroin, smack and brown sugar

Chitta hooks fast. Within weeks a young man needs it just to feel normal, and the withdrawal (body pain, diarrhoea, sleeplessness, restlessness and a crushing craving) is so harsh that very few manage to stop at home. At a proper nasha mukti kendra in Chamba's reach, chitta ka ilaj starts with medically supervised detox, where doctors use the right medication to take the edge off withdrawal while nurses watch him round the clock.

After detox comes the real work of chitta de-addiction: counselling, group therapy and the 12-step programme, so he understands why he used and what to do when the craving returns. Overdose risk is highest right after detox, when tolerance has dropped, so relapse prevention starts in the first month. Our guide chitta kaise chhode explains the full path for families looking for chitta treatment in Chamba.

Sharab (alcohol)

In many Chamba homes sharab is part of every wedding, jatar and cold evening, which is exactly why sharab ki lat is so easy to miss until it has taken over. Stopping suddenly after years of daily drinking can cause tremors, sweating, fits and even hallucinations. That is why sharab chudane ka ilaj needs doctors, not willpower alone, and why alcohol rehab in Chamba should always start with a medical check.

Alcohol de-addiction in Chamba families' case starts with a safe, supervised detox, then counselling on the triggers behind the drinking, liver and nutrition care, and family sessions so the home stops making it easy. Read more on alcohol addiction recovery. If you are comparing options for alcohol rehab in Chamba, ask every centre exactly how it manages withdrawal before you admit him.

Is withdrawal dangerous at home?

Sometimes, yes. Withdrawal from sharab and from sleeping tablets such as alprazolam can bring on fits and confusion, even a medical emergency. Chitta withdrawal is rarely fatal by itself, but it is so painful that most men go back to using within days, and a man who uses again after a few clean days is at the highest risk of overdose. Locking him in a room, at home or at an unregistered nasha mukti kendra in Chamba or anywhere else, is not safe. If he is shaking badly, confused, has had a fit or cannot keep fluids down, take him to the nearest hospital first, then call us.

Charas, ganja and bhang

Cannabis grows wild on Chamba's hillsides and is often brushed off as harmless. We see young men whose studies, jobs and motivation have quietly fallen apart. Charas ganja treatment works best through CBT, a steady routine and fitness, and any nasha mukti kendra in Chamba's region should offer all three.

Opium, afeem, doda, bhukki and chura post

Poppy husk and poppy plants are still seized in Chamba district. These are opioids too, and they are common among older men, drivers and labourers. Coming off them needs a medically managed taper, then the full residential programme at a registered rehab centre in Chamba's region.

Goliyon ka nasha: tramadol, codeine syrup, alprazolam

Prescription dependence hides in plain sight because the strips and bottles come from a chemist. We taper under medical supervision, since stopping a tablet like alprazolam abruptly can be dangerous.

Injecting and mixed use

Injecting carries the highest risks: overdose, abscesses, hepatitis and HIV. Mixing substances makes withdrawal unpredictable, and street chitta can be cut with other opioids, synthetic ones included. We screen for infections and refer to hospital where needed.

Cocaine and MDMA

Less common in Chamba than chitta or charas, but we do see party drugs in men who have worked in cities or tourist towns. They are treated inside the same programme, with the same counselling and relapse plan.

Drug de-addiction for the whole family

Nasha chudane ka ilaj at a nasha mukti kendra in Chamba's region is not only about him. Parents, wives and siblings learn how addiction works and how to help without funding it. This family work is part of every plan, at no extra cost.

What makes the best rehabilitation centre in Chamba for de-addiction?

Search for the best nasha mukti kendra in Chamba and you will find pages promising "No. 1", success rates and home pickup. Before you trust any of them, ask for these six things. They are the standard we hold ourselves to, and you can check each one when you visit. Our wider guide to the best rehabilitation centre in Himachal Pradesh goes deeper.

Registered, with papers you can see

We hold Provisional Registration Sr. No. 193 from the HP State Mental Health Authority. Ask any nasha mukti kendra in Chamba to show the certificate. A centre that hesitates, or shows only a trust deed or GST number, is telling you something.

Medical detox, not a locked room

At the best rehabilitation centre in Chamba's region, withdrawal is managed with medication, monitoring and nursing round the clock. Cold turkey behind a locked gate is not treatment, and with sharab or tablets it can be dangerous.

180 days, not 15

Short stays at any de-addiction centre in Chamba or elsewhere rarely hold against chitta. Six months gives the body time to recover and the mind time to build new habits. Families can choose a shorter stay, and we will say honestly what it can and cannot do.

Family inside the treatment

Parents, wives and siblings learn how addiction works and how to help without enabling. Recovery holds better when the home changes too, which is why a nasha mukti kendra in Chamba's reach must include the family.

Fees written down

Most nasha mukti kendra in Chamba listings hide their fees. Ours are published in full on this page. Anything outside them, such as a hospital referral, is discussed with the family before a rupee is spent.

Run by someone who has been there

Our founder, Eshan Pathania, is five years in recovery himself. He knows what your son is going through, and what it takes to come out the other side.

Why families call us the top rehabilitation centre in Chamba's region

Not because we say so. Families who tried other places before calling us usually mention three things: someone answered the phone at 2 am, we told them the fees before they asked, and nobody at our centre raised a hand to their son. We will never promise a cure or a success rate, because no honest top nasha mukti kendra can. What we offer is checkable: a registration number, a doctor, a psychiatrist, written fees and a real address in Himachal.

Searching for the best nasha mukti kendra near me in Chamba?

Late at night, from Chamba town or a village above Salooni, families type rehab near me, rehabilitation centre near me, nasha mukti kendra near me or nasha mukti kendra in Chamba into their phones. Here is what that search should lead you to, and what it often leads you to instead.

A rehab centre in Chamba families can reach any hour

Our phone and WhatsApp are open 24x7 and admissions happen any day. Families from Chamba town, Sultanpur, Balu, Dalhousie, Banikhet, Bakloh, Chowari, Sihunta and Tissa call us first, plan the journey with us, and come to Tanda Kholi in Kangra for the assessment. For many, we are the nasha mukti kendra in Chamba's reach they can actually talk to at midnight.

A nasha mukti kendra in Chamba's reach with real medical cover

A rehab centre near me is only useful if it can manage withdrawal safely. We detox under medical supervision with 24x7 nursing, and Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College and Hospital at Tanda is our neighbour if a resident ever needs more.

A de-addiction centre in Chamba's next district you can check

We are registered with the HP State Mental Health Authority (Sr. No. 193), our fees are on this page, and you can walk in and see the rooms before you decide. Very few pages that rank as a de-addiction centre in Chamba or a nasha mukti kendra in Chamba can offer even one of those.

Best rehab centre near me: what the search results do not tell you

When we searched for a nasha mukti kendra in Chamba and a de-addiction centre near me ourselves, most of the pages that came up were not in Chamba at all. Several are run from Punjab, Dehradun or Indore, list phone numbers from other states and quote success rates nobody can check. At least one describes a Chamba in Uttarakhand. None that we found showed a registration number from the HP State Mental Health Authority or a street address in Chamba district.

We will not pretend either. We have no building in Chamba district. Our centre is at Tanda Kholi in Kangra, the next district, and we say so on every page. For a family searching for a rehab centre in Chamba, that means a real place in Himachal that you can drive to, visit and check, run by people who know these hills and speak your language. If you want the best nasha mukti kendra near me that is honest about where it is, start here.

Families from Pangi, Bharmour and Holi sometimes ask whether a nasha mukti kendra in Chamba town would be better than a journey. For a 180-day stay, what matters more is that detox is safe, the staff are trained and you can reach us by phone at any hour. Visits are planned in advance, and we help families time them around bus timings, road openings and the winter snow.

Chitta, sharab and drugs: what Chamba is facing

548.8 gof chitta seized in Chamba district from January to 30 August 2026, against 228 g reported for April to mid-December 2024

88people arrested in 62 drug cases in Chamba district in 2026, up to 30 August

13panchayats in Chamba district placed in the state's worst-affected red category for drugs

Figures from Chamba police and the state government as reported in the press, each linked in the text. We only show reported numbers; we do not estimate. A nasha mukti kendra in Chamba that quotes figures should link them too.

For years, Chamba's drug story was mostly about charas from its own hillsides. That is changing. Chitta now travels up the Pathankot to Chamba highway, and police figures show more of it every year. The numbers below come from Chamba police and the Chamba district administration, as reported in the press. Every family looking for a nasha mukti kendra in Chamba or a rehab centre in Chamba should know them.

Police figures and the trend: 2024, 2025 and 2026

In December 2024, Chamba police told a district review meeting that 82 NDPS cases had been registered in that financial year, with about 32 kg of charas and 228 g of heroin seized, The Tribune reported. The same meeting heard that 18 chemist shop licences had been suspended in 2024. In the first quarter of 2025, state police recorded 11 chitta cases in Chamba district, while chitta seized across Himachal rose by almost 27 per cent over the same months of 2024, according to The Tribune.

By late May 2026, the Superintendent of Police told the district narco coordination committee that 43 NDPS cases had been registered that year, with 64 people arrested (44 from Himachal and 20 from other states), and 371.64 g of chitta, 15.578 kg of charas and 2.169 kg of poppy seized, Dalhousie Hulchul reported. Five government employees found involved in NDPS cases had been suspended, dismissed or retired.

By 30 August 2026, the count stood at 62 cases and 88 arrests: 548.8 g of chitta with 57 people held, 17.516 kg of charas with 30 held, and 868 poppy plants. Case numbers have not simply climbed (82 in most of 2024 to 2025, 62 in eight months of 2026), but the mix has changed. Charas seized fell from about 32 kg to about 17.5 kg, while chitta seized rose from 228 g to 548.8 g, more than double.

Chitta arrests and supply routes into Chamba

Most chitta enters Chamba by road from Punjab. In May 2026, police stopped a car coming from Pathankot on the Chamba to Pathankot national highway and found 204 g of chitta, arresting four young men from Punjab. In July 2026, two more men from Punjab were held with about 14 g of chitta in Dalhousie. In June 2026, Nurpur police stopped four young men from Chamba district with chitta at the Chakki bridge checkpoint, on their way back up.

The trade is also local now. In July 2026, the Special Investigation Unit raided a house in the Balu area near Chamba town and seized 42.37 g of chitta along with 217 g of gold, 479 g of silver, two iPhones and cash. In June 2026, a young man from Kandla village was caught with 37.23 g of chitta, and a bike rider was stopped with 7.87 g. An earlier Tribune report described a repeat offender held with chitta and Rs 2.29 lakh in cash at a shop in Bhariyan village, on the Chamba to Mangla and Jot road.

Dalhousie, Banikhet and Bakloh

The Dalhousie and Banikhet belt sits on the main road up from Pathankot, which makes it the first stop for supply. Besides the July 2026 Dalhousie arrests, the SIU caught two young men from Chamba with 15.4 g of chitta near Chehli village on the Pathankot, Chamba and Bharmour highway in February 2026. In August 2026 the district narco committee decided to put up digital anti-drug screens at Banikhet and Dalhousie because of the tourist traffic through both towns. Families from this belt often ask us for a rehab centre in Chamba's region that is honest about travel, and we plan the trip with them.

Sihunta, Chowari and Bhattiyat

In February 2026, police in the Sihunta area arrested three men in a single day in two cases involving chitta and charas, one of them on the Morthu link road. In August 2026, a special court in Chamba sentenced a man to one and a half years of rigorous imprisonment for 6.08 g of chitta seized near Drammann under Sihunta police station in January 2025. Bhattiyat, with Chowari and Jot, lies on the road many families take towards Kangra when they choose a nasha mukti kendra in Chamba's neighbouring district, and it is also a route supply uses.

Churah, Tissa and Salooni

In Churah, police tightened night patrols and vehicle checks before the 2026 panchayat polls, and the biggest liquor seizure of the year came from here (see the sharab section below). Men from Churah have also been caught outside the district: in March 2026, a 23-year-old from a village under Tissa police station was arrested with charas at Indora. For families in Tissa, Sanwal, Kihar and Salooni, the worry now is that chitta is following the same roads charas once went down. Families here searching for a nasha mukti kendra in Chamba often end up looking outside the district for residential care.

Bharmour, Holi and Pangi

In Bharmour, Holi and Pangi, distance is the first obstacle. Roads close for weeks in winter, and there is no residential de-addiction centre in these areas. We did not find recent police figures for these tribal areas on their own, so we will not guess. What we can say is that for families here looking for a nasha mukti kendra in Chamba, planning matters: call us early, before the passes close, so admission and the first visit can be timed around the roads.

Overdose and chitta deaths

In July 2026, a 24-year-old man died suddenly at night in Charoti village of Bhalei panchayat, and local people suspected an overdose, Punjab Kesari reported; police said the cause would be known only after the post-mortem. Across Himachal, the Chief Minister told the Assembly that reported overdose deaths rose from 8 in 2023 to 31 in 2024, with 27 in 2025. In the first 72 days of 2025 alone, 13 suspected overdose deaths were reported in the state. Police officers have said many such deaths go unreported because families stay silent.

Sharab, illicit liquor and alcohol in Chamba

Chitta makes the headlines, but sharab reaches more homes. In May 2026, ahead of the panchayat polls, Tissa police seized 871 bottles of liquor from a pick-up abandoned near Sanwal in Churah. In November 2025, police seized ten boxes of country liquor being carried without a permit near Khairi, under the Bakloh police post.

Home-made liquor is part of it too. At a district excise review, officials said that since December 2024 the excise department had seized about 304 litres of country and foreign liquor and destroyed 2,392 litres of lahan, the raw wash used to brew it, along with 20 cases of country liquor seized at Tunnuhatti.

The state excise department has since deployed four special teams in Chamba district, as many as any district, and has reported liquor smuggled from Chandigarh being seized in Chamba. Seizures are only what gets caught. The sharab ki lat families bring to a nasha mukti kendra in Chamba's region is usually bought legally, every single day, which is why alcohol de-addiction in Chamba matters as much as chitta.

What the government and police are doing

Chamba is one of five districts where the state is setting up a new government de-addiction centre, and 13 of its panchayats are on the state's red list.

The district administration has ordered drug complaint boxes and nodal teachers in schools, digital anti-drug screens at bus stands, cameras on sensitive HRTC routes and police registration for snooker clubs, and it has directed action against property bought with drug money.

At the medical college in Chamba, more than 100 young people are registered at the government de-addiction clinic, and their medicine must now be taken in front of the psychiatrist, Amar Ujala reported in September 2026. Anyone can report chitta dealing on 112. Families who want residential care rather than a clinic can read about our nasha mukti kendra in Kangra and compare it with the government options further down.

Across India, the AIIMS-NDDTC report Magnitude of Substance Use in India found that only a small share of people who need treatment for alcohol or drugs ever get it. If a son or husband in your home is part of these numbers, you are not alone, and asking a nasha mukti kendra in Chamba's region for help is not a failure.

Is the nasha mukti kendra in Chamba you found registered? How to check

Before you hand your son to any nasha mukti kendra in Chamba or elsewhere, ask one question: is this place registered under the Mental Healthcare Act? Here is what the law says, in plain words, and how to check any rehab centre in Chamba, Kangra or Punjab in five minutes.

What the law requires of a nasha mukti kendra in Chamba

Under Section 65 of the Mental Healthcare Act 2017, no mental health establishment, and that includes a de-addiction or rehab centre, can run without registration with the State Mental Health Authority. In Himachal, that authority sits in Shimla, and every nasha mukti kendra in Chamba district needs it too.

What provisional registration means

Under Section 66, a centre first gets provisional registration, valid for twelve months and renewable, while it works towards permanent registration. Ours is Provisional Registration Sr. No. 193, issued on 14/05/2026, shown on this page and on the wall at the centre.

Why "government approved" often is not

Many centres across Himachal and Punjab call themselves government approved when all they hold is a trust deed, a society registration or a GST number. None of those is permission to keep patients. Only the State Mental Health Authority can give that, whether the centre is a rehab centre in Chamba, Kangra or Punjab.

What happens in illegal centres

Punjab has seen the worst of it. Health officials sealed an unauthorised centre in Moga district and rescued about 60 people, who alleged beatings and deaths. In Ludhiana district, police arrested the owner of an illegal centre after a young man died there. In Haryana, a centre was sealed for running on an expired licence.

How to check any nasha mukti kendra in Chamba in five minutes

Ask for the State Mental Health Authority registration number and the date it was issued. Ask to see the certificate. Ask who the doctor and psychiatrist are. Ask for the fees in writing. Ask whether you can visit before admission. A genuine nasha mukti kendra in Chamba or anywhere else says yes to all five.

Our papers, open to inspection

The 180-day programme at the nasha mukti kendra in Chamba's reach

Whether he comes from Chamba town or a village in Churah, every man at the nasha mukti kendra in Chamba families choose in Kangra follows the same eight stages. The pace changes from man to man; the structure does not. The full 180 days is what we recommend for chitta, but the stay is flexible, and fees are monthly, so a shorter stay costs less.

  1. Admission and assessment

Every good nasha mukti kendra in Chamba's region starts here: a confidential medical and psychiatric assessment of his substance history, health and family situation, then a written treatment plan made for him.

  2. Medically supervised detox

Withdrawal from chitta, sharab or tablets is managed with the right medication, regular monitoring and 24x7 nursing, so it is as safe and bearable as possible.

  3. Psychiatric and psychological therapy

Addiction rarely comes alone. One-to-one sessions and CBT work on the depression, anxiety, anger or trauma that often sits underneath.

  4. 12-step programme and group therapy

Daily group meetings where men from Chamba and across Himachal learn from each other, hold each other to account, and find out they are not the only one.

  5. Yoga, meditation and fitness

Mornings begin with yoga and meditation on the lawn, facing the Dhauladhar. Exercise, sport and regular meals rebuild a body that addiction has run down.

  6. Family counselling

Parents, wives and siblings learn how addiction works, how to rebuild trust, and how to support recovery without funding a relapse.

  7. Relapse prevention

Before discharge from the rehab centre in Chamba's region, every man writes his own plan: his triggers, his warning signs, the people he will call and the shape of his day back home.

  8. Aftercare and follow-up

Discharge is not goodbye. We stay in touch through follow-up calls and reviews, and the helpline stays open to him and his family.

What a shorter stay can and cannot do

Some families cannot manage six months, and that is their choice to make. At any rehab centre in Chamba or Kangra, a stay of three to four weeks can get him safely through detox, stabilise his health and start counselling. It cannot usually rebuild the habits, friendships and routine that keep chitta or sharab away once he is home. If you choose a shorter stay, we will build the strongest discharge plan we can, and we will tell you plainly which risks remain.

A day at the centre

Structure is part of the medicine. At the rehab centre in Chamba's neighbouring district, days follow a steady rhythm, much like a working day in a hill village, so that discipline slowly takes the place of craving.

Morning

An early start, yoga and meditation on the lawn, breakfast, then group therapy and one-to-one counselling.

Afternoon

Rest, reading, skill-building and vocational work, and time for fitness and games.

Evening

Sport, a 12-step meeting and quiet reflection, with fixed meal and sleep times throughout.

Admission for Chamba families: first day, visits and calls

Admission to a nasha mukti kendra in Chamba's neighbouring district feels like a big step, especially when the journey is long. Here is exactly what happens, so nothing on the day comes as a surprise. You can read more on our government nasha mukti kendra guide for Himachal Pradesh if you are still deciding.

When he refuses help

Refusal is common, and it is part of the illness. Call us before you talk to him, whichever nasha mukti kendra in Chamba you finally choose. A counsellor will help you choose the moment, the words and who should be in the room. We will also explain honestly what the Mental Healthcare Act 2017 allows. Be wary of any centre that offers to take him away by force. Our guide ghar mein koi chitta le raha hai has more on that first conversation.

What to bring

For admission to our nasha mukti kendra, families from Chamba bring his Aadhaar or another photo ID, your own ID, any old prescriptions, hospital or discharge papers, and a list of the medicines he takes. We suggest simple clothes for about two weeks, warm layers for the Kangra winter, slippers and a towel, and it is best to leave cash and jewellery at home. Tell us at the assessment about fits, liver trouble, diabetes or blood pressure.

The first day and first week

On the first day at the de-addiction centre, the doctor and counsellor assess him, the plan is explained to you, and detox begins if he needs it. The first week is mostly rest, medication, fluids and close watch by the nurses. Once he is settled you can head home, and we call you with an update.

Visits and phone calls

At our de-addiction centre in Chamba's neighbouring district, visits and calls are planned as part of the treatment, usually after the first stabilisation period, because early contact during withdrawal can pull him back. After that, families have regular calls with him and with the counsellor. For families travelling from Chamba, Bharmour or Pangi, we fix visit dates well ahead so you are not turned away after a long journey.

Food and daily care

All meals come from the trust kitchen and are included in every plan, with an upgraded diet in the B Caring and A Caring plans. Tell us at admission about diabetes, liver trouble or anything he cannot eat, as you would at any nasha mukti kendra in Chamba. Nurses are on duty round the clock, and medication is given on time by the staff, never left to him.

After discharge, and if he slips

For families seeking chitta treatment in Chamba, the work continues at home. He leaves with a written relapse prevention plan, and we keep in touch with follow-up calls. If he slips back to chitta or sharab, call us straight away. A slip is not the end, and acting within days is far safer than waiting. Relapse after a clean spell carries a high overdose risk, so never leave him alone if you suspect he has used again.

Nasha mukti kendra in Chamba's reach: fees, stated plainly

Families comparing the best rehab centre in Chamba's region and every nasha mukti kendra in Chamba they have heard of usually start with cost, so we publish our fees in full. The treatment is identical in every plan; only the room and the diet change. Fees are monthly, so you pay for the time he actually stays. For a wider comparison, see our guide to rehab centre fees in Himachal Pradesh.

Government options for Chamba families, honestly compared

A private nasha mukti kendra in Chamba's region is not the only choice, and for some families it is not the right first step. These are the government options near Chamba, what each one does well, and where a residential nasha mukti kendra in Chamba's reach fits in.

De-addiction clinic, Government Medical College, Chamba

Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru Government Medical College in Chamba town runs a de-addiction clinic under its psychiatrist, with more than 100 young people registered. It is close, low cost and good for outpatient treatment and medicine. It is not a long residential programme, which is where a residential nasha mukti kendra in Chamba's region fits in. The college's page on the district website lists its details.

Psychiatry at Tanda Medical College

Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College and Hospital at Tanda, Kangra, has a psychiatry department and is the region's main referral hospital. It sits beside our centre, which is why we can move a resident there quickly in an emergency. It treats acute problems; it does not keep men for months.

The new government centre for Chamba

The state has announced a government de-addiction centre for Chamba district, one of five new centres. When it opens, it will add a government de-addiction centre in Chamba itself, close to home. Until then, ask the medical college in Chamba for the current position before you plan around it.

The national de-addiction helpline 14446 and Tele MANAS 14416 give free, confidential advice by phone, any time. To report chitta dealing in your village, call 112. More on the national campaign at Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.

When government care is enough

If he is willing, uses less, has a stable home and can attend the clinic regularly, outpatient treatment at the medical college may be the right start. We will tell you so if that is what we think after the first call, even though we are a nasha mukti kendra in Chamba's reach and could simply admit him.

When a residential centre helps

If he has tried and failed at home, injects, drinks from morning, has had fits in withdrawal, or cannot get away from dealers in his village, a registered residential centre with medical detox usually gives a far better chance. That is the gap our centre fills for families who need a nasha mukti kendra in Chamba's reach.

We have not listed phone numbers for the government hospitals because we could not confirm current numbers from official sources. Please check them on the Chamba district website.

The people Chamba families will meet

When you bring him from Chamba to our nasha mukti kendra in Kangra, these are the faces you will see on the first day, and the people who will call you with updates for the months that follow.

Voices of recovery

Families searching for the best nasha mukti kendra near me or a nasha mukti kendra in Chamba often ask to hear from men who have been through it. These three completed the programme and agreed to share their words.

"I had given up on myself long before I reached this nasha mukti kendra. Nobody shouted at me and nobody locked me in a room. They treated me like a man worth saving, and after 180 days of rehab I walked out with my life back."

Dinkar, former resident of our nasha mukti kendraDinkar

"Chitta had taken everything from me. Here I got real medical care, not punishment, and that was the whole difference. The detox was safe, the counselling made me face what I had run from for years, and I left with a plan I still follow every morning."

Farhan, former resident of our nasha mukti kendraFarhan

"Yoga at six with the Dhauladhar in front of us, the group meetings, and staff who never gave up on me, even on my worst days of de-addiction. Piece by piece this place rebuilt me. My family has me back, and that means more than I can write."

Ayush, former resident of our nasha mukti kendraAyush

How to reach our nasha mukti kendra from Chamba

If you searched for a nasha mukti kendra in Chamba, you should know where we really are. Our centre is not in Chamba. It is at Tanda Kholi in Kangra district, and families from every part of Chamba reach us by road. Here is what the journey involves, honestly, and how we help you plan it.

Why our rehab centre in Chamba's neighbouring district sits out of town

For a man trying to leave chitta or sharab behind, a nasha mukti kendra in Chamba town is not always the best place. Some distance from home is not a drawback. Away from the village, the old friends, the dealer on the corner and the shop that sells him a bottle every evening, he gets the quiet months he needs to rebuild.

Our centre sits in Village Tanda Kholi, beside the Food Corporation of India (FCI) godown and near Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College and Hospital, Tanda, so hospital care is close if a resident ever needs it. Ask any taxi or auto driver in Kangra for the FCI godown at Tanda Kholi, or simply follow your phone map to the pin in the contact section.

Families coming to our nasha mukti kendra from Chamba should plan the admission day in advance. Call us the day before, tell us which route you are taking, and we will be ready for the assessment when you arrive, at any hour.

About 130 kmfrom Chamba town to our centre by the Jot and Chowari road, roughly 4 hours by car in good weather

About 180 kmby the Banikhet and Nurpur highway, roughly 5 to 6 hours by car, the usual route when Jot is closed by snow

About 150 kmfrom Chamba to Gaggal (Kangra) airport, which is itself a short drive from us

All distances and times are approximate. Your phone map will show the exact route and traffic on the day.

Towns and villages around Chamba we serve

Men come to us from every tehsil of Chamba district, and families from each of them have found us while searching for a rehab centre in Chamba or a de-addiction centre in Chamba. If you searched for a nasha mukti kendra in Chamba from any of these places, this page was written for you.

Whichever nasha mukti kendra in Chamba's region you choose, the roads are the same. Travelling by the Banikhet road, you pass close to Nurpur; families there can read about our rehab centre in Nurpur page. Relatives flying into Gaggal may find our rehab centre in Dharamshala page useful, and our nasha mukti kendra in Kangra page has the full details of the centre itself. Families in Palampur have their own rehab centre in Palampur page.

  • From Chamba bus stand

Buses leave Chamba bus stand for the lower hills through the day. Ask at the counter for a bus towards Kangra or Dharamshala, or take one to Nurpur or Pathankot and change there for Kangra. From Kangra bus stand a taxi or auto brings you to Tanda Kholi. Call us before you set out and we will tell you the best connection to our nasha mukti kendra that day.

  • By car or taxi

Most families come by car or a hired taxi, which is also easiest for him. The Jot and Chowari road is shorter but can close with snow in winter; the Banikhet, Tunnuhatti and Nurpur highway is longer but open all year. From either side, head for Kangra and then Tanda. Set your phone map to our pin before you leave Chamba.

  • By train

Chamba has no railway station. The nearest broad-gauge station is Pathankot. From there, the narrow-gauge Kangra Valley train to Joginder Nagar started running again in June 2026 after four years, and stops at Kangra Mandir, a short auto ride from us. It is slow, so most families from Chamba find the bus or a taxi easier.

  • By air

Gaggal (Kangra) airport has flights from Delhi and is a short taxi ride from our centre. It helps most when a brother or son working outside Himachal wants to be there on admission day while the family comes up from Chamba by road.

Questions families ask about a nasha mukti kendra in Chamba

If your question is not here, call us. Every conversation is private, the first consultation is free, and there is no obligation.

Serving families across Chamba who need a nasha mukti kendra in Chamba's reach, from Chamba town to the villages of Dalhousie, Bhattiyat, Churah, Salooni, Bharmour and Pangi. This map shows the area we serve; our centre's address in Kangra is in the contact section below.

Is there a nasha mukti kendra in Chamba itself?

There is a government de-addiction clinic at the medical college in Chamba town, which offers outpatient treatment and medicine. Our residential nasha mukti kendra is not in Chamba; it is at Tanda Kholi in Kangra district, and we say so plainly. Many pages online that claim to be a nasha mukti kendra in Chamba are run from Punjab or other states, so always ask for a registration number and a real address in Himachal.

How far is your rehab centre from Chamba?

From Chamba town it is about 130 km by the Jot and Chowari road, roughly 4 hours by car in good weather, or about 180 km by the Banikhet and Nurpur highway, roughly 5 to 6 hours. For a nasha mukti kendra in Chamba's reach that is close enough for visits, that is a manageable journey. These are approximate figures, so check your phone map on the day for the exact route and traffic.

Which bus should we take from Chamba bus stand?

Ask at the Chamba bus stand counter for a bus towards Kangra or Dharamshala, or take one to Nurpur or Pathankot and change there for Kangra. From Kangra bus stand, a taxi or auto brings you to our nasha mukti kendra at Tanda Kholi. Timings change with the season, so call us before you leave and we will help you pick the best connection that day.

Is the Kangra Valley train running now, and can we use it from Chamba?

Yes. The narrow-gauge train between Pathankot and Joginder Nagar started running again in June 2026 after four years. Chamba has no station, so you would first travel to Pathankot by road, then take the train to Kangra Mandir, a short auto ride from our centre. It is slow, so most families coming to our nasha mukti kendra from Chamba find a bus or taxi easier.

Do you take men from Dalhousie, Banikhet, Chowari, Tissa, Salooni, Bharmour and Pangi?

Yes. Families from every part of Chamba district come to us when they need a nasha mukti kendra in Chamba's reach, including Dalhousie, Banikhet, Bakloh, Chowari, Sihunta, Tissa, Salooni, Bharmour, Holi and Pangi. Families from the upper valleys looking for a nasha mukti kendra in Chamba's reach should call us early, especially before winter, so admission and visits can be planned around road closures.

What is the drug situation in Chamba right now?

Chitta is rising. Chamba police registered 62 drug cases and arrested 88 people in 2026 up to 30 August, and seized 548.8 grams of chitta, more than double the 228 grams reported for April to mid-December 2024. Most chitta comes up the Pathankot to Chamba highway, and 13 panchayats in the district are on the state's red list for drugs. That is why more families are now looking for a nasha mukti kendra in Chamba.

Is illicit liquor a problem in Chamba too?

Yes. In May 2026, Tissa police seized 871 bottles of liquor near Sanwal before the panchayat polls, and the excise department has destroyed thousands of litres of lahan, the wash used to brew country liquor, in Chamba district. The state has placed four special excise teams in the district. Still, most families who call a nasha mukti kendra in Chamba's region about sharab are dealing with liquor bought legally every day.

Is there a government de-addiction centre in Chamba?

The Government Medical College in Chamba runs a de-addiction clinic under its psychiatrist, with more than 100 young people registered, and the state has announced a new government de-addiction centre for the district. The clinic is good for outpatient care. If he needs a long residential stay with medical detox, a registered residential nasha mukti kendra in Chamba's reach like ours fills that gap.

Can families from Chamba visit, and how often?

Yes. Visits and calls are planned as part of treatment, usually after the first stabilisation period, because early contact during withdrawal can pull him back. After that, families visit our nasha mukti kendra on dates fixed with the counsellor. Because the journey from Chamba is long, we agree visit dates well ahead so you are never turned away at the gate.

Which is the best rehab center near me in Chamba?

The best rehab centre near me, or the best nasha mukti kendra in Chamba, is one you can check: registered with the HP State Mental Health Authority, detox under medical supervision, a stay long enough to work, family counselling and fees in writing. Our nasha mukti kendra at Tanda Kholi, Kangra, meets all five, and we welcome you to visit and verify before you decide.

Why choose a centre outside Chamba instead of one in town?

Distance from the village, the old friends and the local dealer gives a man the quiet months he needs to change. We also could not find a registered private residential centre in Chamba town. A registered centre in the next district, with a doctor, a psychiatrist and written fees, is usually safer than an unregistered nasha mukti kendra in Chamba close by.

Do you arrange transport from Chamba?

Transport to our nasha mukti kendra from Chamba is not included in the fees. Most families come by car, a hired taxi or bus. If you need help arranging a vehicle, tell us on the phone and we will talk it through with you before anything is booked or spent.

What does chitta ka ilaj involve at your nasha mukti kendra?

At our nasha mukti kendra, chitta ka ilaj starts with a medical and psychiatric assessment, then medically supervised detox to manage withdrawal safely. After that come counselling, group therapy, the 12-step programme, yoga and family sessions, and finally a written relapse prevention plan. The goal is not only to get chitta out of his body but to change what made him use it.

Is chitta withdrawal dangerous, and can he stop at home?

Chitta withdrawal causes body pain, diarrhoea, vomiting, sleeplessness and a strong craving. It is rarely fatal by itself, but it is so painful that most men use again within days, and using after a few clean days carries a high risk of overdose. That is why chitta de-addiction is far safer under medical supervision, at a registered nasha mukti kendra in Chamba's region, than at home.

How long does chitta treatment take for families from Chamba?

Detox usually takes one to two weeks, but that is only the start. For chitta treatment in Chamba families' cases we recommend 180 days, because the brain and habits take months to settle. Families can choose a shorter stay, and fees are monthly, but we will always tell you honestly what a shorter stay can and cannot achieve.

What if he relapses after chitta treatment?

Relapse is common and it does not mean he is beyond help. Call the nasha mukti kendra that treated him straight away. We look honestly at what went wrong, whether it was a stay that was too short, depression that was never treated or old friends at home, and plan the next step. Acting within days is far safer than waiting.

What is the overdose risk after chitta de-addiction?

The risk is highest in the weeks after detox or any clean spell, because his tolerance has dropped but the craving has not. A dose he once took easily can now stop his breathing. At our nasha mukti kendra, relapse prevention, family awareness and follow-up calls after discharge are there to protect him in exactly this period.

My son injects chitta. Can you still help him?

Yes. Injecting carries extra risks, such as overdose, abscesses, hepatitis and HIV, so we screen for infections at admission and refer him to hospital if he needs it. At our nasha mukti kendra, injecting and mixed use are treated inside the same programme, with the same detox, counselling and relapse plan.

What is sharab chudane ka ilaj at your centre?

At our nasha mukti kendra, sharab chudane ka ilaj starts with a safe, medically supervised detox, because stopping suddenly after years of heavy drinking can cause fits. Then come counselling on the triggers behind the drinking, liver and nutrition care, group therapy and family sessions, so the home stops making it easy to drink again.

Is alcohol withdrawal dangerous?

It can be. After years of daily drinking, stopping suddenly can cause tremors, sweating, fits, hallucinations and confusion, and in some men this becomes a medical emergency. That is why alcohol de-addiction in Chamba or anywhere should begin under a doctor's care. If he is shaking badly or confused, take him to hospital first, then call a nasha mukti kendra in Chamba's region such as ours.

Do you offer alcohol rehab for families in Chamba?

Yes. Alcohol rehab in Chamba families' lives is one of the most common reasons people call our nasha mukti kendra. Men from Chamba are admitted to our centre at Tanda Kholi, Kangra, for supervised detox and the full residential programme. Sharab ki lat is treated with the same care and the same fees as chitta.

My husband drinks every day but still goes to work. Does he need rehab?

Daily drinking that he cannot stop, drinking from the morning, hiding bottles or shaking without a drink are signs of dependence, even if he still works. Call a registered nasha mukti kendra in Chamba's region, such as ours, and describe what you see. We will tell you honestly whether he needs a residential stay, outpatient treatment or simply a proper medical check first.

Which is the best nasha mukti kendra in Chamba for our family?

The best nasha mukti kendra in Chamba's region is one that is registered with the State Mental Health Authority, detoxes under medical supervision, keeps men long enough to recover, involves the family and writes its fees down. We meet all five, which is why families call us the top rehabilitation centre in Chamba's region, and we are honest that our centre is in Kangra, not in Chamba.

What makes the best rehabilitation centre in Chamba's region?

Look for registration you can see, a doctor and psychiatrist, medical detox rather than a locked room, a stay long enough to work, family counselling, written fees and an address you can visit. A top rehabilitation centre in Chamba's region, like the best rehabilitation centre in Chamba itself, should never promise a cure or a success rate.

Is your de-addiction centre in Chamba's region government registered?

Yes. We hold Provisional Registration Sr. No. 193 from the HP State Mental Health Authority, Shimla, under the Mental Healthcare Act 2017, issued on 14/05/2026. You can see the certificate at the centre. Ask any other de-addiction centre in Chamba or nasha mukti kendra in Chamba for the same number before you admit him.

What does a nasha mukti kendra in Chamba cost, and can we choose a shorter stay?

Rs 12,500 a month for shared care, Rs 25,000 for a deluxe twin room and Rs 40,000 for a private room, plus Rs 6,000 once for detox. The treatment is the same in every plan at our nasha mukti kendra. We recommend 180 days, but you can choose a shorter stay, and because fees are monthly, a shorter stay costs less.

What is included in the monthly fee?

At our nasha mukti kendra, the monthly fee covers accommodation, meals, prescribed medication, doctor and psychiatrist reviews, counselling, group therapy, yoga, fitness, every activity at the centre and family counselling. Anything outside this, such as a hospital referral or transport, is discussed with you first.

How does admission work?

Call or WhatsApp us first. A counsellor will ask a few questions and help you plan the day, including the journey from Chamba. On arrival at our nasha mukti kendra, the doctor and counsellor assess him, explain the plan to you, and detox begins if needed. Bring his photo ID, your ID and any old prescriptions or hospital papers.

What if he refuses to go to a nasha mukti kendra in Chamba or anywhere else?

Refusal is common and it is part of the illness, not proof that treatment will fail. Our counsellors will coach you through the conversation and explain honestly what the Mental Healthcare Act 2017 allows. Be wary of any nasha mukti kendra in Chamba or elsewhere that offers to take him away by force.

Is admission to a nasha mukti kendra in Chamba confidential?

Completely. As a registered mental health establishment, our nasha mukti kendra is bound by the Mental Healthcare Act 2017 to keep his treatment private. Nothing is shared with employers, neighbours, the panchayat or anyone outside the treatment.

Can he make phone calls from the centre?

Yes, on a schedule, as at any registered nasha mukti kendra in Chamba's region. Calls are usually held back in the first days of detox, then planned regularly with the counsellor, so contact helps his recovery instead of pulling him back. You can call the centre any time, day or night, for an update on how he is doing.

Do you treat charas, ganja and goliyon ka nasha as well?

Yes. Nasha chudane ka ilaj at our nasha mukti kendra covers charas, ganja and bhang, opium, doda and poppy husk, and goliyon ka nasha such as tramadol, codeine syrup and alprazolam. Tablets are tapered under medical supervision, because stopping some of them suddenly can be dangerous.

Who can be admitted?

Men aged 18 and above, with no upper age limit, from Chamba or anywhere in Himachal. We are a male-only residential nasha mukti kendra. Tell us at the assessment about fits, liver problems, diabetes or any mental health treatment he has had before.
